Transgender Athletes Should Not be Allowed to Compete in Women’s Sports if They Were Born as a Male

That compelling feeling, I receive of crossing the finishing line, taking home the victory will never be the same. Transgender athletes will forever change the meaning of ‘victory’ in sports’ history. Men are built more muscular and enhanced than women, as well as women feel the unfairness. Therefore, transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports if they were born as a male.

How are Men More Physically Enhanced Than Women?

Did you know that men have seventy-five percent more muscle mass than women? On top of that, men have an average of 30% increase of lower-body muscle than women. In 1976, L.L Laubach decided to publish his research towards “comparative muscular strength of men and women.” In his discoveries’, he noticed that men consist of vast upper-body strength than woman. A. E. J. Miller, J. D. MacDougall, M. A. Tarnopolsky and D. G. Sale, were scholars who reported that women are only 52-66% as strong as men in the upper-body region. It is a fact that there is a notable difference between the muscular cross-sectional area, where woman had 25-45% less muscular biceps brachii, total elbow flexors, vastus lateralis, and knee extensors. Hence, an average man’s muscle mass is immensely greater where their strength is significant than a woman’s.

Men are incredibly nourished in contrast to women as they have a greater extent of testosterone and additional nutrients. Astonishing enough, men can have twenty times more testosterone than women. On average, men retain 570 percent extra testosterone than women, generating incompatible skeletal muscle mass, strengthened bone structure, along with countless amounts of iron. This results to women being prone to osteoporosis including iron deficiency, in addition men already are in advance by their abilities to take more force upon their bones plus heighten oxygen quantities under stress. Even when transgender athletes are provided with treatment to lower their testosterone, the proportion will continue to be at alarming rates above women. Not to mention, transgenders’ muscle mass and nutrition levels remains the same.

Is it Fair?

Imagine telling an amputee to walk? They will provide you with a shocked expression, seemingly puzzled. Why? They unfortunately do not comprise the correct skills to carry out the walking ability. Undergoing a similar experience, female athletes disagree with transgenders in their sport. Science provides evidence that a woman’s body structure will never match that of a

man’s, thus women should be competing against one with the same body structure as theirs’. In reference, a fair athletic event for a “woman” would be to compete against one who is a true female, not a person who claims themselves as a “female.” Statistic proves that majority of female athletes do not agree with transgenders in their sport, furthermore former Olympians such as Sharron Davies or Paula Radcliffe spoke up about the unfairness besides threat men are in a women’s race.

(Women's track or men's track?)

In the future, would there be any sport where women get an opportunity to consider placing near the top? Would “real women” be given a chance to compete in the Olympics, or is it only for men? Evidence explains that male transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports, as there are outstanding and unfair expectations for women beyond their biological capabilities.
